The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s and women’s bowling teams returned to the lanes last Sunday for the second WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) Jamboree of the year at Fairlanes Bowling Center in Grandville, Michigan.
At the first WHAC Jamboree earlier this season, the men finished 9th. The Wolverines have finished no better than 8th place this year through three tournaments. However, their sophomores have improved incrementally, which indicates a bright future for this team.
Devoid of any juniors and seniors on the roster, the young talent has stepped up tremendously this year. Sophomore Mark Bilancetti continued his stellar season, finishing 23rd overall with 760 total pins and an average of 190 to lead the Wolverines. Sophomore Chevy Pawlik and freshman Stephen Strzalkowski also had strong afternoons, finishing 28th and 47th overall, respectively.
At the second WHAC Jamboree this year, the Wolverines finished 10th place out of 13 teams.
For the women’s team, they finished with a score of 5,690 pins, which placed them 11th out of 13 teams. Despite the low finish, they too had many standout performances.
Freshman Danielle McBride led the way finishing 16th overall with 732 pins with an average of 183. Freshman Amanda Williams finished 41st with 666 pins, and freshmen Jessica Ludwick and Carly Scanlon, each finished in 46th with 649 pins.
The teams have almost a month long break before they compete at the third WHAC Jamboree of the year. The event will be hosted by Lourdes University on December 7 at Southwyck Lanes in Toledo, Ohio. The start time will be announced on a later date.
