During his feature for the 2019 Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York, West was promoting his new shoe concept for shoes made out of algae. They would be completely biodegradable in landfills or “almost immediately when sprayed with a certain bacteria,” according to West during an interview with Forbes in July of this year. The topic turned to the presidential race when asked about his future plans.
Comparing himself to innovators of industry like the Wright Brothers, West continued on plans for Yeezy. These plans include moving the corporation to North and South America, as well as including green initiatives like growing his own cotton and using low impact dyes for his clothing line. According to West, these changes will gain him enough favorability to win the election with ease.
“When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk,” West said.
In the same interview, however, West mentioned changing his name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West,” and was laughed at when announcing the campaign. Some might get the feeling it might not be as serious as it seems. Is this an elaborate hoax? Just something to stir the proverbial pot and generate more buzz for his business? Or is it the biggest twist of them all- West is serious, and wants to be our president? We may have to wait to find out more.
