Battery made from nuclear waste will last 5,700 years

Bristol University and Atomic Energy in London, UK Scientists of the authority have made a battery whose half life is only 5,700 years. This battery is made from carbon-14 and it is the first such battery in the world. Carbon-14 is a radioactive form of carbon. Professor Tom Scott of Bristol University said that there are no moving parts in the battery. Nuclear waste has been used in it. This will also solve the problem of nuclear waste. This battery can be used in hearing aids, health devices like pacemakers and in the space sector. It will prove to be game changing in such areas and equipment in which it is difficult to replace the battery. This battery works like solar panels. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight. Similarly, this battery generates electricity from the electrons flowing inside the structure of the diamond. For this, carbon-14 is kept inside the diamond.
